EQUESTRIANS’ INSTITUTE
DRESSAGE AWARDS 2009
The current year end dressage awards fall into three basic categories: Awards for score from USEF/USDF Recognized shows within Region 6; Awards for scores from Equestrians’ Institute (EI), Whatcom County Dressage & Eventing Association (WCDEA) or Lower Puget Sound Dressage Club (LPSDC) schooling shows; and special Awards for Dressage Seat from RidersPilates, the Champion Arabian Dressage Horse Perpetual Trophy given by Semper Fi Horse Marines and the Ralph Dreitzler Vintage Award. Recognized and Schooling Year-End Awards are available in three divisions: Open, Adult Amateur, Jr/Young Rider and at all levels including Musical Freestyle. All Awards are presented at the E.I. Annual Meeting held in January.

General Eligibility for Recognized, Schooling Show Year-End and Special Awards:
- Scores must be earned while rider is an E.I. Member
- Scores will be submitted for the competition year (Oct 1 – Sept 30)
- One horse/rider combination will be considered an entry
Test copies or a USDF Scorecheck printout must accompany the Year-End Awards application form.

Recognized USEF/USDF Dressage Show Awards
- Merit Certificate – for one score of 58% or better
- Achievement Pin – for three scores of 60% or better; from two different judges; one score must be from from the highest test of the level
- High Score – for five scores of 55% or better, from three different judges; and two scores must be from the
highest test of the level. The high score rider will receive a plaque
engraved with the level and the year. In addition, ribbons will be awarded
to 5th place at each level for each division.
Schooling Dressage Show Awards
Due to inclement weather in 2009 and our spring show cancellations, our schooling show awards program has been slightly modified for 2009. Fewer scores will be required for 2009. See below for specific details:
- Merit Certificate – for one score of 58% or better
- Level Achievement Pin – for two scores of 60% or better from at least one judge; one score must be from the highest test of the level.
- High Score – for two scores of 55% or better. The high score rider will receive a plaque engraved with the level and the year. In addition, ribbons will be awarded to 5th place at each level for each division.
- Musical Freestyle - Three scores from two different judges at a Recognized Show.
Special Awards
RidersPilates – Dressage Seat AwardEnter the Dressage Seat Equitation classes at L’Aperitif, Beaujolais, or Champagne Classic-Magnum show to be eligible for the RidersPilates Dressage Seat Award.
Champion Arabian Dressage Horse
Perpetual Trophy
Semper Fi Horse Marines have donated a silver cup to be called the Tripoli Cup. This trophy is awarded annually to the owner of a purebred Arabian, Anglo-Arabian, or Half-Arabian horse owned and ridden by a member of Equestrians Institute. The first place winner is determined by averaging the five highest scores from Training through Fourth Level tests.
Ralph Dreitzler Vintage AwardPresented in honor of Ralph Dreitzler’s many years of service to E.I. to be awarded to the E.I. Vintage rider earning the highest average score from E.I. recognized shows.
