E.I. Chapters
Chapters
of Equestrians’ Institute
As a chapter of E.I. your organization gets the best of two worlds:
being a member of a large and resourceful organization that can
organize major shows and clinics and having local control.
Washington has about 6 million people living fairly spread out and
through chapters E.I. can stretch throughout the state.

The Lower Puget Sound Dressage Club is a chapter of Equestrians’
Institute, is dedicated to the education of its members and the
promotion of the harmonious development of horses and riders in the
finest tradition of equitation. Formed in 1989 the original purpose
of the club was to produce what was at that time the only dressage
show in the Gig Harbor/Port Orchard area. Much has changed since
that humble beginning, and membership has steadily increased. The
competition calendar has grown from one to five shows per year.
Clinics have been added. In addition to the reduced fees at club
sponsored schooling shows and clinics, members also receive a
monthly newsletter and are eligible for the year end awards program.
The club shows are also Washington State Horseman B system shows.

Whatcom County Dressage and Eventing
Association
The
Whatcom County Dressage and Eventing Association is the first
chapter of Equestrian’s Institute, founded in 1983 at a kitchen
table by dressage enthusiasts. A few years ago we expanded to
include our dedicated eventing friends and WCDA became WCDEA. It has
been a very successful partnership and our volunteers continue to
expand our shows, clinics and events to give Whatcom County riders
(and anyone else interested no matter where they live!)
opportunities to further our riding skills and education. We are a
very active organization that knows how to have a good time working
together and with our horses.
One of our major projects is to
raise funds to improve Sunset Farm Equestrian Center (a Whatcom
County Park) located in Blaine to make it a more suitable equestrian
facility for all horse disciplines. Through our volunteer labor and
generous cash donations we have been able to install an all weather
outdoor sand arena and improve our cross country course to a wide
variety of jumps.
Again this year the club has produced a calendar
made up of beautiful, donated photographs of our local horses and
riders.
The calendar project has been a smashing success since its
inception. Money raised from the sale of these calendars goes to
improvements at Sunset Farm Equestrian Center. To learn more about
where you can pick up a copy of this beautiful calendar, please go

Our club invites
any and all dressage, eventing or all around horse enthusiasts. We
hold monthly meetings (usually the 3rd Thursday of every month) and
have guest speakers on a wide variety of interesting topics. In
addition, we hold three dressage schooling shows a year plus at
least two eventing clinics or shows. For more information on how to
join or about our club in general, please visit our website at

Cherry Fox, our President, for more information. Happy Riding!
