Equestrians’ Institute is a Group Member Organization (GMO) of USDF
Group Membership is obtained by joining a local dressage organization, such as
EI. This membership gives you a Group Membership with USDF. This membership
makes you eligible to compete for Rider Awards (bronze, silver, and gold
medals), makes you eligible to compete in USDF-recognized competitions, gets you
a subscription to the USDF Connection magazine, makes you eligible to receive a
$15 discount off of a USDF Participating Membership, and gets you member
discounts at USDF events.
Look here for a list of all USDF GMO’s in the United States
Participating Membership, which is obtained by joining USDF directly, is the
"higher" level of membership. This type of membership is required for most USDF
Awards Programs, as well as qualifying for USDF/Great American Insurance Group
Regional Championships. In addition to the benefits that come with Group
Membership, Participating Members of USDF also receive a copy of the USDF
Directory, are eligible to compete for USDF Year-End Awards, and are eligible to
qualify for USDF/Great American Insurance Group Regional Championships (if all
other requirements are met). While it is possible to retain both types of
membership with USDF, the decision on which type of membership you need to have
should be based on what you are aiming to compete for.
