E.I. Dressage
Equestrians’ Institute offers many and varied educational and competition opportunities for its members interested in Dressage, regardless of riding level or experience.
EI hosts four dressage schooling shows throughout the show season. They are currently held at San Sebastian Equestrian Center and Simpatico Stables in Redmond. Designed to be relaxed to put the first-time competitor at ease; our schooling shows also provide a great way to introduce a young horse to the show world and provide the seasoned competitor a chance to practice or try out the next level. Getting involved with our schooling shows as either a competitor or a volunteer (or both!) is a great introduction to EI and a fun way to meet and watch participating horses and riders.
The Dressage Division also sponsors three USEF/USDF Recognized Shows every year: l'Aperitif (Bridle Trails State Park), the Beaujolais (Donida Farm), and the Summer Champagne Classic (Donida Farm). L’Aperitif is an early season show aimed to bridge the gap between schooling and recognized shows; it offers Training through Second Level classes. The Beaujolais and Champagne Classic offer competition through the FEI level and Musical Freestyle. The Beaujolais includes a Breed Show. All three shows are well attended and provide an opportunity to qualify for the Region 6 Championships.
Competitors who participate in recognized and/or schooling shows are encouraged to participate in our year-end awards program.
EI strives to provide educational programs for dressage enthusiasts of all levels. In recent years, EI has organized a USDF “L” judge training program and clinics with renowned equestrians Lendon Gray, Bo Jena, Steffan Peters and Janet Brown. Seminars have covered a range of topics including equine anatomy, veterinary diagnostic imaging, saddle fitting, and “How to Scribe.” The Dressage division also provides education grants to members interested in pursuing specific learning goals.
We hope that you will expand your riding experience by enjoying the many activities offered through the Dressage Division.
